Overview
Garmin AIRMAR B275LHW Thru-Hull CHIRP Transducer for Coastal and Offshore Fishing
Introduction
The Garmin AIRMAR B275LHW is a high-frequency CHIRP transducer engineered specifically for larger vessels that demand precise fish detection and expanded sonar coverage beneath the hull. Operating across the 150–250 kHz frequency range, this thru-hull transducer combines advanced CHIRP sonar technology with a constant 25-degree beam width to reveal fish, bait schools, and underwater structure with exceptional detail and clarity. Built for fiberglass and wood-hulled boats measuring 25 feet and above, the B275LHW is purpose-built for coastal and offshore fishing environments where accurate underwater visibility directly impacts fishing success.
Key Features
- Operating frequency range of 150–250 kHz for detailed sonar returns and improved target separation
- Constant 25-degree beam width that expands underwater coverage area beneath the vessel
- CHIRP sonar technology that transmits across multiple frequencies simultaneously for clearer imaging
- Enhanced target separation to distinguish individual fish from surrounding structure and debris
- Designed for boats 25 feet and larger with fiberglass or wood hull construction
- Professional-grade performance compatible with Garmin marine electronics systems
- Reliable deep-water operation in coastal and offshore fishing applications
- Thru-hull installation design for permanent mounting on compatible vessels
Data Insights
CHIRP sonar operates by transmitting across a range of frequencies rather than a single fixed frequency, resulting in significantly clearer sonar images and improved target separation compared to traditional single-frequency transducers. The B275LHW's 25-degree beam width provides substantially wider coverage beneath the hull, allowing anglers to monitor a larger water column and locate fish or bait schools that may remain undetected with narrower beam configurations. The high-frequency operation delivers excellent resolution, making it easier to interpret underwater environments and distinguish individual fish with confidence. This broader viewing capability is especially valuable when searching for suspended fish, productive structure, or bait concentrations in deeper offshore waters.
Usage Instructions
Install the B275LHW according to Garmin and AIRMAR guidelines specific to fiberglass or wood-hulled vessels, ensuring proper positioning for optimal sonar performance. Connect the transducer to a compatible Garmin marine electronics system and configure sonar settings based on fishing conditions, depth, and target species. Proper installation and positioning are essential for accurate underwater readings. Regularly inspect the transducer and mounting hardware to ensure reliable long-term operation, and follow all supplied installation instructions to prevent damage to the vessel or equipment.
