Data Insights

The Descent Mk3i's Dive Readiness analysis evaluates four key recovery factors—sleep quality, stress levels, exercise history, and jet lag—to establish your preparedness before diving. When paired with optional Descent T2 transceivers, the device monitors pressure data and transmits diver location and tank status for up to eight team members, improving safety coordination and underwater awareness. The ABC sensors (altitude, barometer, compass) provide reliable depth, pressure, and directional accuracy critical for navigation during ascent and descent. Battery life extends up to 11 days in smartwatch mode and up to 48 hours in dive mode, supporting multi-day expeditions without charging interruption.

Usage Instructions

Charge the device fully before first use and download the Garmin Dive and Garmin Connect apps on your smartphone to establish pairing. Before diving, select your preferred dive mode—gauge, apnea, apnea hunt, or gauge with air integration—and customize your dive screens to display the metrics most relevant to your dive profile. If using SubWave communication or wireless air integration, ensure compatible Descent T2 transceivers are paired and on. After surfacing, allow the device to sync automatically with your phone to record full dive logs and generate post-dive recovery recommendations. For multisport use, explore the activity profiles, navigation tools, and health dashboards through the Garmin Connect companion app to track training load and performance trends over time.

Design & Material

The Descent Mk3i balances professional engineering with everyday wearability through its premium titanium construction and thoughtful material selection. The 51 mm case and integrated bezel house robust inductive buttons that remain leak-proof at depth, eliminating traditional mechanical buttons prone to failure. The black and pebble gray silicone band uses a quick-release design for convenient swaps between diving, sport, and casual settings, while its textured surface maintains grip when wet. The 1.4-inch AMOLED screen delivers vibrant colour reproduction and deep blacks that reduce power consumption compared to LCD alternatives, enabling longer battery runtime between charges.

• 51 mm silver and black PVD titanium case combines lightweight strength with corrosion resistance
• Black and pebble gray silicone band rated for saltwater and freshwater environments
• Sapphire crystal lens resists scratches and maintains optical clarity in demanding conditions
• Leakproof metal inductive buttons operate reliably at depth without mechanical seals to fail
• 1.4-inch AMOLED display with 454 × 454 pixel resolution and anti-reflective treatment
• Built-in LED flashlight with adjustable brightness for low-visibility diving and nighttime use
• Multi-band GPS antenna enables rapid satellite acquisition and precise positioning globally
• Integrated barometric altimeter and electronic compass with three-axis calibration

Final Verdict

The Garmin Descent Mk3i is the industry standard for divers who refuse to compromise between underwater capability and multisport performance. Its 200-metre dive rating, SubWave sonar communication, air integration for eight tanks, and DiveView map ecosystem make it the most capable dive computer on the wrist, while comprehensive health monitoring, advanced training metrics, and worldwide navigation keep it relevant beyond water sports.
